FUNERAL HELD: Antonia Berthiaume

DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont

 

A concelebrated Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pastor, Father Thomas D. Nadeau was the principal celebrant and homilist. Other concelebrating priests were Father Marcel R. Rainville, SSE and Father Brian J. Cummings from the Office of Campus Ministry at Saint Michael's College. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Gabriel Liegey. Eugene LaBombard and Cleo Yandow served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead. A large guard of honor was formed by members of the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne.

 

The White Funeral Pall was draped over Toni's casket by her sisters, Raymonde Choiniere, Gemma Boucher, Colette Perrault and Joyce Bombardier. The Crucifix was then placed  by her husband Francis Berthiaume and daughter, Diane Machia. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by Toni's son, Richard "Bert" Berthiaume. Readings from scripture were proclaimed by granddaughters, Alyssa Berthiaume and Jessica Berthiaume Brill. The Prayers of the Faithfull were offered by granddaughter, Mikaela Berthiaume, granddaughters, Nicole, Samantha, Ava & Olyvia Burnell presented The Offertory Gifts.

 

Among the many large delegations in attendance were representatives from the Board of Directors, members and staff of the Saint Albans Cooperative Creamery, Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, faculty, students and staff of Bellows Free Academy - Saint Albans which included the Athletic Department and girls varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams, Northwest Technical Center, Northwest Supervisory Union Office of the Superintendant of Schools, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, Mary S. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Berthiaume family lot in Saint Mary's Cemetery with Father Nadeau reading the committal prayers.

 

The bearers were, Alex Burnell, Erik Berthiaume, Jameson Berthiaume, Jason Brill, Aaron Ciullo and Chad Boudreau.

 

Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held in the Nativity Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Theresa Begnoche and the Ladies of Saint Anne.
