FUNERAL HELD: Douglas Lee Coleman DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont The Liturgy of Christian Burial was
celebrated Monday January 9, 2012, from The Church of the Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Marcel R. Rainville,
SSE a longtime family friend was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as
Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Gabriel Gagne. Edward Daniel and Cleo Yandow served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was
provided by soloists and guitarists Sally and Henry Forgues.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Doug's casket by his daughter and
son-in-law, Kelly and Todd Merrill. Grandchildren, Mikayla
and Mattheau Merrill then placed the Crucifix.
Readings from the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Kelly and Mikayla Merrill. The Offertory Gifts of Roses were
presented by Mikayla and Mattheau
and the bread and wine by Carol and Katherine Winchester. Special Words of
Remembrance were shared by Doug's son, Christopher Coleman. Among the large
delegations in attendance were representatives from the, Swanton Town and
Village Offices, Ronald McDonald House, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Family,
C&K Sports Bar, Handy Toyota and Handy Chevrolet, Chevalier Insurance,
CBA, Flowers By Debbie, Franklin County Home Health Agency, Kevin Smith's
Sports Connection, Sally's Flower Shop, Swanton Lumber Company, Swanton
Village Green Apartments, St. Marie's Market, Barrette Ford Sales and
Service, Swanton Rexall, Swanton Chamber of
Commerce, Swanton Recreation Department, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Central
Schools, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, New
England Central Railroad, Hank Gadouas Concrete,
GTM Electric, Porter's Bike Shop, Vermont Precision Tools, M&T Sand and
Gravel, Grand Avenue Enterprises, Memorial United Methodist Church, Swanton
Beverage Mart, Fairfax Pharmacy, Swanton Village Fire Department and
Auxiliary, Swanton High School Class of 1961, Chevalier Drilling, Rene
Fournier Farm, Equipment and Raleigh Insurance. The Rite of Committal and
Interment followed at the Coleman family lot in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic
Cemetery with Father Rainville assisted by Deacon
Gagne reading the committal prayers. The Honorary Bearers were, Seth Coleman,
Jack Eldridge, Richard Raleigh, Jeff Raleigh, John Winters, Gerald Bachand, Gary Gadouas and Hank Gadouas. The Active Bearers were, Timothy Coleman, Edward
Coleman, Richard Skeels, Jon Winchester, David
Winchester and Todd Merrill. Following The Prayers of Committal a reception
