FUNERAL HELD: Lyle Edmund Parah, Sr.

 DATELINE: Highgate Center, Vermont

 

The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church. Father Thomas D. Nadeau was the celebrant and homilist. John Ferland and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Mary Jo Gillilan. Special Music was offered by granddaughter, Hailey Parah who sang the hymn “Amazing Grace”. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by, David Day. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Lyle’s casket by granddaughters, Heidi and Melissa Danforth. The Crucifix was then placed by Lyle’s wife, Donna. Readings from the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by, Greg and Armand Parah. The Offertory Gifts were presented by his children, Deborah Mulheron, Laura Capsey, Dianne Day and Lyle Parah, Jr. Among the large delegations in attendance were representatives from the Swanton Village and Town Offices including the Board of Trustee’s and Select Board led by Village Manager George Lague and Town Manager, Richard Thompson, Swanton Village Police Department, Swanton Village Fire Department, Missisquoi Valley Rescue, Highgate Town Offices, Alburgh Village and Town Offices, Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, Highgate School District, Highgate Historical Society, Highgate United Methodist Church, TOPS, Grand Avenue Enterprises, M&T Sand and Gravel, Laroche Auto repair, IBM O.C. McCuin & Sons, United States Postal Service, Neal Speer Construction, Shear Sophistication, Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council 7669 and Fourth Degree Assembly 2207, Reflections Unlimited, Joe Rainville and Sons, Carroll Concrete, American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1, Fisher Hill Greenhouse, former Fonda Group Associates, Desorcie’s Store, Northwestern Medical Center, LaFar Auto and Truck Repair, Superior Technical Ceramics, Nana’s Restaurant, Highgate Mobil and Nativity / Saint Louis Parish. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Parah family lot in Saint Louis Cemetery with Father Nadeau reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Doug Capsey, Allen Paradee, Carter Bushey, Maurice Parah, Armand Parah, Bryan Duprey, Richard Smith and Jeff Parah. Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag which honored the Vermont Army National Guardsman was folded by SPC Angelo Pasquale and SPC Danielle Quenneville and presented to Mrs. Donna Parah by 1st SGT Dan Landry. Taps were sounded by SPC Quenneville. Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Services a reception was held for family and friends in the Father Jean Paul Laplante Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Raymonde Choiniere and the Ladies of Saint Anne.
