DATELINE: Isle La Motte, Vermont Mrs. Joy Lewis Beierle,
age 87 years, a resident of the Isle La Motte
community since 2005, died Tuesday morning November 29, 2011, at her Access
Road residence with her loving husband Jack by her side. Born in Winthrop, MA on February 24, 1924, she was
the daughter of the late Robert Leslie and Elizabeth (Becker) Lewis. On June
29, 1957, she was married to John David Beierle who
survives her following 54 years of marriage. Joy received her BA degree in psychology from the
University of Arizona, a Bachelors in Library Science from Pratt Institute in
Brooklyn, NY and her Master's Degree from Columbia University in New York
City. For many years Joy served as a junior high school librarian in
Scarsdale, NY. She enjoyed traveling and along with her husband lived many
years in Europe including Paris and Belgium. She loved cooking and fine
dining, having taken cooking lessons in Paris, France. Joy leaves her husband John "Jack" Beierle of Isle La Motte; a
daughter, Rebecca McFadden and her husband Reginald of Virginia as well as
grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. The Burial Office will be celebrated Monday December
5, 2011, at 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 38 Grand Avenue,
Swanton. The Reverend Reid D. Farrell will officiate. The family will receive
friends immediately following the service in Holy Trinity's Parish Center.
The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place Monday at 12 Noon in the
Isle La Motte Village Cemetery. Gifts
