DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont Mrs.
Antonia Berthiaume, 84, a lifelong resident of
Swanton died January 29, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Antonia
(Toni) was born in Swanton at her parents' home on Grand Avenue, August 31,
1927. She was the daughter of the late Emery and Yvonne (Thibert)
Bombardier. On September 29, 1951 she married Francis Berthiaume
who survives her. For
60 years, Toni and Francis, lived, loved and laughed together in work and
play. Toni was an active farmwife and then an essential part in the B & M
Construction business. Toni took great pride in the farm operations and later
on with her finishing work, getting new homes ready for people to move in. Toni
was selflessly devoted to all her family, and her unconditional love was
reciprocated by all who knew her. Toni's family was the focal point in her
life. She is survived by three children and their spouses: Diane and Steve Machia, Leon and Anne Berthiaume,
and Richard (Bert) and Melanie Berthiaume. She
leaves behind her precious 9 grandchildren: Robbie,
Nicole, Samantha, Alex Burnell, Jessica (Berthiaume)
Brill and her husband Jason, Alyssa, Jameson, Erik and Mikaela
Berthiaume. She leaves two special great
granddaughters Ava and Alyvia Burnell. Toni
was predeceased by a son Ronald in 1974 and a brother and sister-in-law,
Claude and Theresa Bombardier. She
is survived by her wonderful family who have been a tremendous support to us:
Come and Joyce Bombardier, Raymonde and Henry Choiniere, Gemma and Gilbert Boucher, Collette and Roger Perrault
along with several nieces and nephews. Toni
was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed
Virgin Mary and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. The
family wishes to sincerely thank all of the health professionals associated
with Franklin County Home Health, St. Albans Health Care and Franklin County
Rehab for their devotion and care given Toni in her final year. The
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 2, 2012 at
11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada
St., Swanton. Father Thomas D. Nadeau will be the celebrant and homilist. The
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Berthiaume
family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends
may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Wednesday
from 4 to 7 p.m. Gifts
