OBITUARY: Marshall Lee Bigelow

DATELINE:  Swanton, Vermont

 

Marshall Lee Bigelow, age 70, a resident of Swanton died early Thursday evening, May 20, 2010, in the Northwestern Medical Center with his wife Mary and family at his side.

 

Born in Colchester on, November 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Marshall Ernest and Carolyn Roa (Fresn) Bigelow. He attended school in Milton and furthered his education by taking classes at the Community College of Vermont. He faithfully served his country as an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. On May 1, 1970 he was married to Mary Lee Williams who survives him.

 

For thirty years Marshall and his wife Mary owned and operated a dairy farm in Swanton. After leaving farming he drove truck for R.R. Charlebois, Inc., S, D. Ireland and Munson Earth Moving. He will be remembered as an avid fan of NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon. His hobbies included playing Bingo, cooking, wood working which included the building of barns and doll houses for his grandchildren and traveling to the Akwesasne Casino. He was a member of the Franklin County Senior Citizens and a former member of the St. Albans Coop.

 

In addition to his wife Mary of 40 years, Marshall leaves four children, Pamela Bard and her husband Randy of Fairfield, Heather Snider and husband Lawrence of Richford, Kevin Bigelow and his wife Michaele of Swanton and Stacey Bigelow and companion Brian LaDue Sr. of Swanton; 11 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; four brothers, Carl Bigelow of Swanton, Harold Bigelow of St. Albans and Francis and Robert Bigelow of Swanton as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, friends and his Golden Retriever Duke.

 

We would like to thank our Aunt Ann for all of her guidance.

 

Besides his parents, Marshall was predeceased by a son, Marshall Bigelow Jr. and his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Eldora Williams and Flash.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday evening, May 27, 2010 at 8:30 p.m.  from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Rev. Mr. Duane Langlois will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral on Thursday from 7 p.m. until the hour of the service. Gifts in Marshall’s memory may be made to the, American Heart Ass., Vermont Affiliate, 434 Hurricane Ln.
