Swanton, Vermont Barbara
Cheney Brown, age 69 years, died late Thursday afternoon November 24, 2011,
at her Sheldon Road residence with her loving husband Ross and family at her
side. Born
in Swanton, Vermont on October 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late
Giles and Ila (Honsinger)
Cheney. She attended Swanton schools and on June 20, 1992, was married to
Ross R. Brown who survives her. When
her children were young Barbara lived several years in Glastonbury, CT. In
addition to her many responsibilities as the mother of a large family she
also worked for Fonda Container and Energizer Battery. She was a parishioner
of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.. Barbara
will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother who always put her
family first. She was a kindhearted and very giving person who became like a
second mother to many of her children's friends with open doors to anyone in
need. She kept an immaculate house and was also a talented craftsperson, cook
seamstress and loved the holidays. In
addition to her husband Ross, Barbara leaves five children, Darlene Barrett
and husband Dan of St. Albans, Elliot Westover and wife Mickey of St. Albans,
Michelle Beaulieu of Highgate Springs, Kathleen Fiarkowski, fiancée Jason Choiniere
and his son Jason of St. Albans and Ellen Trahan and husband Jon of Swanton;
six grandchildren, Torrey Reed, Jacob Andrew Fiarkowski,
Kara Nicole Fiarkowski, Raina
Marie Fiarkowski, Lauren Clarice Beaulieu and Cole
Robert Beaulieu; one sister, Mariette Hendricks and several nieces and
nephews. She
was predeceased by her son, Brett Hope on December 7, 1990; two brothers,
Bernard and Fred Cheney and a sister, Doris Minkler. The
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday November 29, 2011, at
1 p.m. from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 38 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The
Reverend Reid D. Farrell will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment
will follow at the family lot in Saint Mary's Cemetery. Friends
may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Monday from
4 to 7 p.m. Gifts
