DATELINE: Fairfield, Vermont Mrs. Jean Brosseau Burnor, 58, a lifelong
Franklin County resident, passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2011 surrounded
by her family at her home in Fairfield following a long and courageous battle
with breast cancer. Born in St. Albans
November 13, 1952 the daughter of Philip Adelard
and Irene Marie (Viens) Brosseau,
Jean was raised in Highgate where she attended
school and was a 1970 graduate of Highgate Center
High School. On November 28, 1970 she
was married to David H. Burnor. Together they made
their home and raised their children on the Burnor Family
Farm in Fairfield. Jean was associated with
VSAC for over 20 years serving in many capacities, most recently as a
financial counselor and had also worked for the Tyler Family and the Law
Office of E.J. Tyler III in St. Albans. A member of St. Patrick’s Church in Fairfield,
she was also very active as a 4-H leader
and as a designer and baker of custom wedding cakes for many years. Jean was and avid
collector of Longaberger Baskets and was a member for 11 years of the Coping
With Cancer Support Group. Jean was
especially proud of the Bachelor of Arts Degree she received by taking night
courses over a period of 25 years through the Johnson State College External
Degree Program. In addition to her
husband of over 40 years, David of Fairfield and her mother, Irene Brosseau of Swanton, Jean is survived by 2 sons; Nathan Burnor and Kevin Burnor, 3 daughters;
Jennifer Fournier and her husband Ty, Julie Burnor
and Sarah Heckman and her husband Sean, 2 brothers and their wives; Philip L.
(Butch) and Donna Brosseau and Daniel and Lise Brosseau, 8 sisters and
their husbands; Diane and Steve Murphy, Patricia and Fernand
Gagne, Elaine and Michael Chevalier, Joanne and John Fraties,
Nancy and Steve Cadieux, Laurie and Raymond Bushey, Mary Beth and Marc Barnum and Lisa and Glenn Dockham, 11
grandchildren; Shannon, David and Mary Thibeault,
Mason, Owen and Quincy Fournier, Azland, Jaden and
Cooper Burnor and Morgan and Maren
Heckman, many aunts uncles nieces nephews and cousins. Jean was predeceased
by her father, Philip and by a granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Heckman. The Liturgy of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10 AM from
St. Patrick’s Church in Fairfield with the pastor, Fr. Leonidas
Laroche as celebrant and homilist. Private interment services will be held at
the convenience of the family. Friends
may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Thursday,
July 28, 2011 from 6-9 PM. Gifts in Jean’s
