DATELINE:  Highgate Springs, Fairfield

 

Joy Crystal Chaffee – Spears, age 49, a lifelong resident of the Highgate Springs area  and more recently of Fairfield, passed away Sunday evening August 7, 2011, at home in Fairfield surrounded by her loving family.

 

Born in St. Albans, VT on October 28, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Marshall (Buddy) Chaffee and Doreen (Loyer) Chaffee who survives her.  She was a graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School and was employed at New England Central Railroad. Joy was a loyal member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Green Mountain Post 1 in Saint Albans  as well as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1566, St. Albans. She enjoyed many trips to the casino in New York as well as cooking and traveling and will also be remembered by many for her great artistic abilities.

 

Survivors include her partner Gary Rich; daughter, Josie Spears and partner Patrick Menard and grandson Jace; daughter Jorie Spears and partner Justin Cantor; also the father of her children, Glen Spears; her mother, Doreen and partner Sonny St. Pierre; siblings, Jody Chaffee, Jill Chaffee Pigeon and partner Rolland Rainville, Joan and Paul Piwetz and Justin and Parmallee Chaffee and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Friday evening August 12, 2011, at 8 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5p.m. until the hour of the funeral.
