OBITUARY: Raymond Willard Corliss

DATELINE:  Saint Albans, Vermont

 

Raymond Willard Corliss, age 56 years, a lifelong St. Albans resident died Wednesday morning, May 12, 2010, at his Lower Newton Rd. home.

 

Born in St. Albans on, April 29, 1954, he was the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Westover) Corliss. He received his education in St. Albans schools graduating from BFA-St. Albans. On May 29, 1976 he married the former Debra Murphy of Swanton who survives him. Since graduating from high school Ray worked throughout the area as a carpet installer until illness forced him to retire.  He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying both hunting and fishing. He also loved to play cards and especially looked forward to the Saturday evening card games with his buddies.

 

In addition to his wife Debbie of St. Albans, Ray leaves his daughter, Heather Corliss and her son Hailen of St. Albans; his son, Jesse Corliss and wife Jessica Scanlon-Corliss of Georgia; two sisters, Jackie Lavigne and partner George Going of FL and Jill Mongeon and husband Earl of Westford; one brother, Jack Corliss and his wife Jean of Fayston as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his favorite feline companion, Willbur the cat.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Rev. Dr. Marguerite C. Gage will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in Ray’s memory may be made to the, Friends of the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, Inc., 29 Tabor Rd. Swanton 05488.
