Corriea, AOBITUARY: Alfred Joseph "Chuck" Corriea

DATELINE:  Swanton, Vermont

 

Mr. Alfred Joseph "Chuck" Corriea, age 93 years, and a resident of the Saint Albans Road died Friday afternoon November 25, 2011, in the Northwestern Medical Center.

 

Born in Rayaham, MA on May 28, 1918, he was the son of the late Manuel Corriea. He attended Massachusetts schools and was later married to Ardell Delia "Dell" Corriea who predeceased him on November 18, 2009.

 

Chuck faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater. He received the Bronze Star and  at the time of his honorable discharge had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He has been a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton and the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans.

 

From 1954 until returning to Vermont in 1988, Chuck and his wife Dell lived in Taunton, MA where he was associated with the Garlic and Ruben East Tannery. In Swanton he was well known for his meticulous lawn and beautiful flower gardens. He enjoyed baseball, camping and horseshoes. He loved young people especially his grandchildren.

 

He leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Leon Unwin of St. Albans; his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Denise Corriea of Taunton, MA; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grand children; one great great granddaughter as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his wife Dell , Chuck was predeceased by  a son, Alfred "Chuck" Jr.; grandson, Alfred Richard II; great grandson, Ronald John Porter and several brothers and sisters.

 

At Chucks request funeral services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
