Bernard Yves Dupuis, deceased, June 12 2010, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.

 

He was born in St., Jean Quebec, Canada on, October 3, 1922, the son of the late George and Derilda (Boucher) Dupuis. He attended parochial schools and college in St. Jean and Montreal. He mastered construction principles in Montreal and was employed by his father a contractor in the Quebec Province.

 

On October 4, 1947, he married Pauline Desiree Lamothe. They resided in Bedford and Iberville, Quebec, St. Albans, VT and Southington, CT before retiring to Alburgh.

 

 Bernard was responsible for numerous large construction projects during his career. He had a great love and a professional art in woodworking and constructed several very early model sail boats many of a 16th Century design as well as various other types of furniture. He served as Construction Superintendant for Bartlett, Brainard & Eacott in West Hartford, CT for almost thirty years and during that time supervised construction projects at churches, schools and business establishments including, Hartford Hospital, Institute of Living, Christ Church Cathedral among others. He was a 55 year member of Local 43 United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America.

 

Bernard is survived by his wife, Pauline (Polly) of Alburgh; his son, Jacques B. Dupuis of West Swanton; his daughter, Diane and her husband Dr. Robert N. Magnuson of Colorado Springs and his granddaughter, Kristin. He is also survived by relatives in Vermont, Canada and Connecticut.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton, (802-868-3331). Father Lawrence P. Ridgley will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Dupuis family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Albans City. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
