OBITUARY: Winston Stuart Eldred

DATELINE:  Swanton, Vermont

 

Winston Stuart Eldred, age 66 years, a resident of Swanton for the past 10 years died early Tuesday evening, April 27, 2010, in Fletcher Allen Health Care.

 

Born in Newport, VT on, Feb. 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Stuart and Geraldine (Bailey) Eldred. He attended Newport schools and on Aug. 24, 1985 was married to the former Jocelyne Beauregard who survives him.

 

For most of his working life Winston worked in the Franklin County area as a farmer. A music fan all his life he enjoyed dancing, singing and playing the keyboard. His favorite vocal male artist was Moe Bandy and favorite female singer was Reba McIntyre. He was also a fan of NASCAR racing and especially followed Jeff Gordon’s career. He was a longtime member of the Abenaki Nation of Vermont.

 

Besides his wife Jocelyne of Swanton, Winston leaves his father-in-law, Gerard Beauregard of Enosburgh; three step-children, Tammy Comtois and her partner Jay of Roxbury, Scott Jewett and partner Lisa of Enosburgh and Brenda Ryan and husband Tom of Richford; five granddaughters, Danielle Comtois, Kaitlin Smith and Nicole, Courtney and Sarah Thompson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger Beauregard  and partner Pam of Enosburgh, Rene and Barbara Beauregard of Richford, Anne Marie Paquette and husband Roger of Enosburgh, Lise Beauregard and husband Michel Nadeau of Cowansville, Quebec Canada as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Yvette Beauregard; step mother, Betty Kennison Eldred; a grandson, Zachary Smith and his best friend and mentor Michael Delaney.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Mon., May 3, 2010, at 12 Noon from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Rev. Dr. Marguerite C. Gage will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint John The Baptist Cemetery Enosburgh Falls. Friends may call at the funeral home on Mon. morning from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral
