OBITUARY: Matthew James Gardner

Matthew James Gardner,
age 25 years, a resident of Barlow Street in Saint Albans City died early
Wednesday morning, April 9, 2008, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in
Burlington.
Born in Saint Albans
on, April 16, 1982, he was the son of Cindy McNally and Robert G. Gardner. He
attended Missisquoi Valley Union High School and for the past several years was
a painter with Dick Leahy Painting.
Matt was as an avid
outdoorsman who loved to ski and fish. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was
also known as a computer wiz. He was considered by many as an excellent automotive
mechanic and was always available in an emergency to repair someone’s car.
Matthew leaves his
mother, Cindy McNally and companion Richard E. Leahy and his father, Robert G.
Gardner and companion Donna Champagne all of Saint Albans; his maternal
grandparents, Richard and Doris McNally of Lexington, KY; paternal grandmother,
Lorraine Gardner of Saint Albans; two sisters, Kristen Major of Franklin, and
Bobbi Jo Gardner of Saint Albans; a brother, Edward Major of Enosburg; aunts
and uncles, Laurie Gage of Saint Albans, Heidi McNally and partner Jim Putnam
of South Alburgh, Shirley “Bug” Gardner of Saint Albans, Arnold “Popeye”
Gardner of Saint Albans, Matthew and Jennifer Watkins of Lexington, KY and
Angela McNally Moury of Lexington, KY; special cousins and fishing buddies,
Adam Hughes, Daniel Reynolds, James Gardner and “Little” Terry Gardner; his
girlfriend, Michelle Robtoy of Sheldon. He also leaves many cousins and
extended family.
Matt truly valued the
time he spent with Dan and Sara Brown and Tim and Carrie Staples.
He was predeceased by
his maternal grandmother Margaret “Peggy” McArthur, paternal grandfather,
Gerald Gardner and uncle, Terry Gardner.
A Funeral Service will
be held Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89
Grand Avenue, Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Reverend Herman Benjamin will
officiate. Interment Services will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Canada
Street, Swanton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from
10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in Matt’s memory may be made to
the family at 42 Barlow Street, Saint Albans 05478.
