Hero, Vermont Leona A. Garrett, age 86 years, a
resident of the North Hero community for the past 40 years died unexpectedly
but peacefully Friday August 12, 2011, in her North End Road residence. Born in Gaspe, Quebec Canada on
January 1, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Ruby Dell (Leggo) DeVouge. She attended
schools in Canada and on October 20 1970, was married to Larry James Garrett
who predeceased her on April 12, 2010.
She was associated for many years with the Holiday Harbor Motel and
earlier with IBM. Leona will be remembered as an
extremely detailed and organized person.
She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her delicious apple
pies. She leaves a sister-in-law, Dorothy DeVouge of Truro, Nova Scotia as well as many nieces and
nephews. In addition to her parents and
husband, Leona was predeceased by four brothers, Cyril, Denzil,
Herzil and Glenn DeVouge. At Leona’s request there will be no
funeral services or calling hours. Interment will be with her husband Larry
in Jerusalem Cemetery North Hero. Gifts in Leona’s memory may be made
