DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont Robert R. Hilliker,
age 82 years, a lifelong Swanton resident died late Thursday evening August 4,
2011, at his Howard St. residence surrounded by his loving wife Pat and
daughter Cathy. Born in Swanton on May 8, 1929, he
was the son of the late Ray B. and Margaret L. (Hatch) Hilliker.
He graduated from Swanton High School and on August 24, 1950, was married to
the former Patricia Pilon who survives him. Robert began his working career with
the Town of Swanton and was later appointed Road Commissioner, a position
that he held for many years before retiring in 1991. In earlier years he
worked for the P.J. Medor Oil Company of Alburgh as well as Texaco in Plattsburgh. He will also be
remembered as avid outdoorsman who enjoyed especially duck and deer hunting
and fishing. In addition to his wife Pat of 61
years, he leaves two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Bret Osgood of
Westport, NY and Cathy and Michael Giroux of Swanton; four grandchildren, Amy
Patnode of St. Albans, twin grandsons, Nathan Coon
of Burlington and Matthew Coon of St. Albans and Brittany Gonzales and her
husband Richard of Ogden, Utah; seven great grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. At Robert’s request there will be no
funeral services or visiting hours. Interment will take place at the family’s
convenience. In lieu of flowers gifts in Robert’s memory may be made to the
American Cancer Society, New England Division, 55 Day Lane, Williston 05495. Arrangements are under the direction
