DATELINE: St. Albans
City Laura June (Capsey) Kittell, age 71 years, a resident of Victoria Lane in St,
Albans Town died early Sunday morning October 30, 2011, in Fletcher Allen
Health Care with loving family at her side. Born in Fairfield, Vt on November 3,
1939, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Eunice (Mitchell) Pelkey. She was raised in Simsbury, CT and graduated from
Simsbury High School. She returned to Vermont in 1957 and on December 16,
1958, was married to the love of her life and the father of her children,
Percy Capsey. Active in the St. Albans and Swanton areas, Laura was a longtime
member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge 1090, was past president of the
American Legion, Green Mountain Post 60 Auxiliary and a member the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert
Glidden Post 758 Auxiliary. In earlier years she had also served as a cub
scout den mother in Swanton. She enjoyed cross word puzzles, shuffle board
and writing country music. Laura also sang with several local country bands. Prior
to retirement Laura had been associated with The Fonda Group and the Union
Carbide Corporation and had also worked as a waitress at several local
restaurants. In addition to Percy Capsey and his
companion Barbara Collins, Laura leaves three daughters, Tina Capsey and longtime friend Bobby Samson of Swanton, Lisa Capsey Baker and husband Scott of Fairmont, W. Virginia
and Tamie Capsey and companion Gary Young of Highgate; two sons, Mark Capsey
and his wife Karen of Highgate and James Capsey and wife Georgiann of
Baltimore, MD; brothers and sisters, Ralph Pelkey
Jr. and wife LaDonna of Rio Linda, Missouri, Beverly
Parrotte of CT, Betty Parrotte
of Charlestown, NH, Wayne Pelkey and wife Anna of
Collinsville, CT and Iris Jones and friend Richard Peters of St. Albans;
grandchildren, Travis and Trevor Leroux, Ashley
Fournier, Robert Lovely, Colin Capsey, Carissa Rushlow, Hunter and Mason Baker and Kyle and Kody Baker; two precious great grandchildren Madeleine and
Caroline Fournier, many nieces and nephews as well as the love of her heart
her canine companion, Precious. Besides her parents Laura was predeceased by two sisters,
Shirley Szasz and Eleanor Warner and two great
grandchildren, Alek Sylvester and Andre Fournier. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 7
p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Reid D.
Farrell, Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. Friends may
call at the funeral home on Thursday
