OBITUARY: Marguerite C. Ferland Larose

DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont

 

Mrs. Marguerite C. Ferland Larose, age 73 years, a longtime resident of the Janes Road died, surrounded by a loving family, late Monday morning, May 12, 2008, in the Northwestern Medical Center.

 

Born in Highgate, VT on, Oct. 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Anna (Bilodeau). She was a graduate of the former St. Anne’s Academy and on, Oct. 5, 1957, was married to Normand A. Larose who predeceased her on Sept. 25, 1999.

 

Marguerite is remembered by her children as a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. In more recent years her life was centered around her Roman Catholic faith. She was a very faithful and dedicated parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary teaching many years in the parish religious education program. As one of the parishes’ first Eucharistic Ministers she brought communion weekly to many of the sick and shut-ins within the parish community. Marguerite also belonged to both the Nativity Parish Altar Society and Ladies of Saint Anne often participating in the preparation of countless numbers of parish and bereavement meals.

 

Marguerite leaves her three children, Michael Larose of St. Albans, Claire Larose of S. Burlington and Helen Traver, her husband Terry and their daughter, Jessica all of Boise, ID; brothers and sisters, Fabien Ferland (Rita) of Georgia, Sister Cecile Ferland of Buffalo, NY, Cecile Laroche (Henry) of Highgate Ctr., Father Martin Ferland of the Most Holy Trinity Monastery in Petersham, MA and Clement Ferland (Gloria) of Highgate Ctr.; a brother-in-law, Douglas Gale of Sheldon and numerous other brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Besides her parents and husband Normand, Marguerite was also predeceased by a son Roger in 1959, a daughter Linda in 1976 and a sister Theresa Gale in 2004.

 

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Leonidas B. Laroche will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Larose family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, (802-868-3331), on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Marguerite’s memory may be made to, The Church of the Nativity, in care of, Father Benedict C.
