DATELINE: Swanton , Vermont / Windsor Locks,
Connecticut Mrs. Lucille Frances Levick,
age 86 years, a lifelong Swanton resident and more recently of Windsor Locks,
CT died Monday October 3, 2011, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Somers, CT. Born in Swanton, VT on June 5, 1925, she was
the daughter of the late Lester and Frances (Stoliker)
Root. She attended schools in Swanton and on December 11, 1941, was married
to Melvin Charles Levick who predeceased her on
May, 30 1999, following 58 years of marriage. In addition to her responsibilities as a wife
and mother, Lucille in her early years, worked at the former Swanton Bag
Factory. In 1968 she and her family settled in Connecticut. While living in
Connecticut she became associated with Hamilton Standard and Montgomery Wire.
Following retirement she and Melvin returned to Swanton in 1984. Lucille
enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Lucille leaves two daughters, Charlotte and
her husband Donald Emch and Sheila King, (with whom
she made her home), and a son, Douglas Levick all
of Windsor Locks, CT; her sister, Marion Wolcott of Swanton; a
daughter-in-law, Alice Levick of Swanton; 11
grandchildren, 13 great grand children; 4 great great
grandchildren as well as many nieces
and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Lucille was
predeceased by two sons, Roger and Charles Levick;
grandson, Delmon Emch; son-in-law, Paul King; four sisters, Ruth
Palmer, Beatrice McDermott, Dorothy Sanborn and Ella Hakey
and four brothers, John, Lester, Allen and Donald Root. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday
October 8, 2011, at 12 Noon from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton.
The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Interment will follow at
the Levick family lot in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Gifts in Lucille's
