OBITUARY: Beulah Mumley Mitchell Lewis
DATELINE: Alburgh, Vermont
Beulah Mumley Mitchell Lewis, age 90 years, the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Carpentier) Mumley died early Sunday evening, September 16, 2012, in the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
She graduated from the former Alburgh High School in 1940 and attended Burlington Business College.
On September 12, 1944, she was married in Alburgh, VT to Harold K. Mitchell. On December 21, 1944, he was killed in action at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. In 1954 she married John Dickens Lewis in Desoto County Mississippi. During their marriage they lived in many cities throughout the United States. After his death in 1975, her primary residence was at her son's home in Alburgh. Beulah was a lifelong parishioner of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church.
Beulah leaves her son Harold K. Mitchell and his wife Sherry of Alburgh; three granddaughters, Erin Mitchell of Alburgh, Allison Mitchell and husband Justin Smith of Columbia Falls, MT and Amanda Mitchell and husband Nathan Robinson of Grand Isle; three great granddaughters, Virginia and Audrey Smith and Brooklyn Robinson; her sister, Garnett Tarantino of Burlington; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Mumley and Shirley Columbe; special nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Guerrina and husband Rob, Richard Mitchell and wife Eileen and their children, Robert and Megan, and Ellen Jarvis
She was predeceased by five sisters, Elvah McCarney, Maude Mitchell, Viola Hall, Doris Letourneau and Patricia St. John and four brothers, Clarence, Carl, Calvin and Milburne Mumley.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. from St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, 9 North Main St. Alburgh Village. Father Lawrence P. Ridgeley will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place later at the convenience of the family.
At Beulah's request there will be no public calling hours.
