DATELINE: Highgate Falls, Vermont Evelyn
Stewart Martin, age 92 years, a longtime area resident died early Saturday
morning, June 26, 2010, in the Franklin County Rehab Center. Born in
Lowell, VT on, April 4, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Parkman
Clarence and Gertrude (Proper) Stewart. She graduated from the former
Highgate High School and on September 25, 1937 was married to George William
Martin, Jr. who predeceased her on January 3, 1998. Evelyn
leaves her son, George Martin III and his wife Evelyn of Highgate Falls and a
daughter, Patricia Martin Wells and her husband Larry of Essex Jct.; nine
grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. Besides her
parents and her husband, Evelyn was predeceased by a son, Dennis Allen Martin
and a grandson Bobby Wells. A Funeral
Service will be held Thursday July 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from The Kidder
Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave, Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Rev. Anne Torrance
Bachmann, pastor of the Swanton Memorial United Methodist Church will
officiate. Interment will follow at the Martin family lot in St. Johns
Episcopal Cemetery in Highgate Falls. Friends may call at the funeral home on
Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Gifts in
