Martinez, C2OBITUARY:  Charlene Ann Tuttle Martinez

DATELINE:   Swanton, Vermont

 

Charlene Ann (Tuttle) Martinez, age 58 years, died unexpectedly Saturday August 27, 2011, in her New Street residence.

 

Born in Saint Albans City on August 31, 1952, Charlene was the daughter of the late William Henry and Florence Louise (Boutin) Tuttle. She was a 1970 graduate of the former Swanton High School and furthered her education in the United States Army becoming a Certified Public Accountant. She was currently pursuing an additional accounting degree through Strayer College. 

 

Charlene faithfully served her country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. Following her honorable discharge from the service, she continued to work for the U.S. Army as a Certified Public Accountant. She later worked for both Tyson and Tyco Industries until returning to Vermont in 2006.

 

She was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1, Saint Albans and a member of the Abenaki Nation of Vermont. She also worked for a time in the office of the Abenaki Tribal Council. Charlene loved to read and especially enjoyed spending the summer months with her friends on Campbell’s Bay.

 

Charlene leaves two children, James Martinez and his wife Deandrea of Acworth, Georgia and  Jacqueline White of Gulfport, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Jachoby, Tabitha, Kelvin Jr. and Desmond White; her sister, Sheila Stoll and husband Richard of Milton; two brothers, William Arthur Tuttle of Swanton and Michael Tuttle and his wife Darlene of West Swanton; aunts and uncle, Irene Wood of Essex Junction, Marvin and Janet Tuttle of Georgia, VT and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was predeceased by a brother Ronald Allen Tuttle in 1997.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Friday September 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Tuttle family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
