DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont Thelma
M. "Peanut" Smart, age 83 years, died early Wednesday morning
December 28, 2011, at the Franklin County Rehab Center with loving family at
her side. Born
in Swanton, VT on September 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late
Clarence and Mable (Brow) Bohannon. She attended Swanton schools and was
later married to Edmund Smart who predeceased her in 1989. Thelma
was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed
Virgin Mary and in earlier years was associated with the Gordon Winters
family. Thelma loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
She was also known for her beautiful crochet work. She
leaves her twin sister, Velma Thibault of St.
Albans; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Smart of Swanton as well as many nieces and
nephews. In
addition to her husband Edmund, Thelma was predeceased by three sisters,
Florence Brown, Beatrice Bohannon and Clara Bruyette.
A
Funeral Service will be held Saturday December 30, 2011, at 12 Noon from The
Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Thomas D. Nadeau will
officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Bohannon
family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends
may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour
of the service. Gifts
