StOBITUARY: Hilda Marjorie St. Francis

DATELINE:  Swanton, Vermont

 

Hilda Marjorie St. Francis, age 89 years, died Monday evening November 14, 2011, at her Pine St. residence surrounded by loving family.

 

Born in Swanton on August 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Cora (Longe) Minckler. She attended Swanton schools and in 1945 was married to Hubert St. Francis who predeceased her on April 14, 1983.

 

Besides her responsibilities as the wife and mother of a large family, Hilda managed to find time to volunteer at many Abenaki Nation functions including operation Santa Clause. She loved watching the television game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, and she also enjoyed Puzzle Books, her M&M collection and playing Yahtzee.

 

Hilda leaves three daughters, Patricia Corwell and friend Douglas of St. Albans, Debra Mooney of Swanton and Tina Brace and husband James of St. Albans; eight sons, Hubert Jr. (Pudgy) and wife Sandra of Swanton, Danny and wife Cindy of St. Albans, Ronald and friend Beverly of Swanton, Rupert of Swanton, James and wife Candy of Swanton, Terry and wife Cindy of St. Johnsbury, Robin of St. Albans and Thomas and wife Debbie of Swanton; 31 grandchildren including a very special grandson, Paul St. Francis and his fiancée Danielle; 77 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and her beloved Pomeranian "Little Bear".

 

Besides her parents and her husband Hubert of 38 years, Hilda was predeceased by three sons, Richard, Robert and Paul St. Francis; two sisters, Muriel LeClair and Evelyn Hope and three brothers, Carl, Stanley and Ralph Minckler.

 

Hilda's family would like to offer their sincerest thanks to the members of Missisquoi Valley Rescue for their professionalism, care and compassion.

 

A Funeral Service will be held, Friday November 18, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Thomas D. Nadeau will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the St. Francis family lot in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

 

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
