DATELINE: Alburgh, Vermont Lawrence Joseph Theoret,
age 96 years, died Monday August 1, 2011, at the Franklin County Rehab Center
in St. Albans Town. Born in St. Isadore de
Prescott, Ontario Canada on December 20, 1914, he was the son of the late Medard and Sophranie (Meilleur) Theoret. On October of 1936 was married to Bertha
“Toots” Mitchell who predeceased him in December of 1977. On February 17,
1979, he married the former Lillian St. Lawrence who predeceased him on March
16, 2008. For several years Mr. Theoret
was the owner and operator of the Grand Isle Oil Company and later became
associated and retired from the Agway Corporation. Following retirement he
was very involved in the Grand Isle County Foster Grandparent program
volunteering at the Alburgh Elementary School for
10 years. He and his wife Lillian enjoyed antiques and operated antique shops
at several locations throughout the Alburgh area.
They also wintered for several years in Dunedin, Florida. He leaves his three children, Theresa (Lewis
deceased) Francis of Isle La Motte, Shirley
Henderson and husband Ray and Kathy Tatro and
husband Terry all of Alburgh; Lillian’s children,
Margaret Theoret and husband Maurice of Alburgh, Bruce St. Lawrence and wife Mary Ann of North
Carolina and Charles “Chuck” St. Lawrence and wife Nancy of Isle La Motte; one brother Joseph (Evelyn, deceased) Theoret of Santa Anna, CA; grandchildren, Bonnie, Gary
Jr., James, Lisa, Tammy Jo, Laurie, Rob, Katie, Ray II, Pamela, Eric,
Leigh-Anne, Joshua and Kayla; Lillian’s grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph, James,
Jennifer and Daniel; great
granddaughter, Claire; Lawrence’s great grandchildren, Michael, Betsy, Emily,
Jesse, Kyle, Ricky, Ashley, Jared, Francis, Heather, Coty, Chantelle, Kassidy, Jazmyne, Easton, Jessica, Dennis, Joshua, Brianna, Quinn,
Autumn, Jacob, Jasper, Zachary, Camerie, Alekxa, Adam, Cari and Carter; Lawrence’s great great
grandchildren, Myah, Jaiden,
Aubrie, Teegan, Brianna,
Emma, Hunter, Kaiden, Tanner, Sophia, Isabella,
Bianca, Hudson, Emily, Josh Jr., Aadena and Zachary
as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by Lillian’s grandson,
David and by his 12 brothers and sisters, Jules Theoret,
Bernadette (Arthur) Martell, Alphonc (Elane) Theoret, Isadore (Evangeline) Theoret,
Sister Florence Theoret CSC, Sister Jeanne Theoret CSC, Alice (Almanzor) Dutil, John (Esther) Theoret,
Yvette (Jeanne-Marie) Fortin, Marie (Noe) Duchaine, Paul (Loretta) Theoret
and Lucille Lawrence Breault. The Theoret family would
like to extend their “sincerest thanks” to the management and staff of the
Franklin County Rehab Center for all of the love, kindness, compassion and
excellent care provided to Larry during his time with them. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. from Saint Amadeus Roman Catholic Church,
Main St. Alburgh Village. Father Thomas D. Nadeau
will be the celebrant and homilist. The family will receive friends following the
liturgy at a reception to be held at the Saint Amadeus Parish Center. In lieu of flowers it is requested that gifts in
Mr. Theoret’s memory be made to Saint Amadeus Church,
