OBITUARY: Jeanne M. Yandow

DATELINE:  Swanton / Saint Albans

 

Mrs. Jeanne M. Yandow, age 94 years, died at her Maquam Shore residence in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 26, 2008.

 

Born in Kate-Vale, Quebec Canada on July 23, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Evarist and Cordelia (Langlois) Pouliot. On May 12, 1936 she was married to Isadore Yandow and together they owned and operated a diary farm in the Saint Albans area for many years. Mr. Yandow predeceased her on July 4, 1999.

 

A very devout and holy woman Mrs. Yandow was a longtime parishioner of Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Saint Albans and more recently The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton. She regularly attended Daily Mass and belonged to the Ladies of Saint Anne.

 

Mrs. Yandow loved gardening and enjoyed putting up the fruits of her harvest. She also spent many hours hand stitching beautiful blankets for newborn babies, something which she considered a real ministry in her life.

 

She leaves nine sons and five daughters and their spouses, Muriel Yandow, Cleo and Cookie, Roy and Betty, Andy and Jackie, Ted and Mary, Lauriette and John Winters, Dennis and Carol, Marc and Rachel, Rosemarie and Glen Wright, James, Roby and Paula, Amy and Greg Zygmont, and Jon and Lise and Lise Morrison; two sisters, Corinne Catella of Jericho and Sister Emerencienna of Ocarm, Kearney, Nebraska; 42 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. from, The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St. Swanton. Fr. Benedict C. Kiely will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Yandow family lot in Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, (802-868-3331), on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Mrs. Yandow’s memory may be made to the, Basic Education Fund for children in the Congo in care of Father Daniel Lokanga, Holy Angels Rectory, 246 Lake St. St. Albans 05478
