Swanton, Vermont Mrs.
V. Anne Zweeres, 86, a resident of Swanton for more
than 60 years died early Thursday morning November 3, 2011, in the Franklin
County Rehab Center in St. Albans. Anne
was born in Pawtucket, RI, September 30, 1925 the daughter of George and Alma
(Lemire) Granger.
She attended elementary school in Rhode Island, graduated from high
school in Claremont, NH and attended nurses training school in Maine. On July 13, 1946 she was married to Donald
Zweeres who predeceased her on December 1, 1988. Anne
was a very active and devoted communicant of the Church of the Nativity of
the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton serving faithfully in many different
capacities over the years. She was a
longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne, the Altar Society and of the
former Grandmas and Grandpas choral group.
Anne served with the parish's first group of Lectors and Eucharistic
Ministers and on the Parish Council and was, for many years a religious
education teacher at both the elementary and high school levels. In
addition, she was an associate of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit and was a
longtime hospice volunteer with the Franklin County Home Health Agency. Anne
is survived by her six children; Barbara Godin and
husband Butch of Bennington, Stephen and his companion Janet Hemingway of
Berkshire, Robert and wife Vivian of Ansonia, CT, Theresa Getty and husband
Rusty of Highgate, Martha Zweeres-Wagoner
of Richford and Carol Greenwood and husband Chris of Highgate,
11 grandchildren; Kevin Zweeres, Michael Godin, Cory Getty, B.J. Getty, Joshua Wagoner, Heather Godin, Amanda Wagoner, Sara Zweeres,
Jessica Wagoner, Luc Gagne and Abby Peters, 4 great-grandsons, 1 brother, Leo
Granger and wife Edna of Pensacola, FL, her in-laws; Carmen Granger, Anita Honsinger, Dorothy Gignac,
Shirley Patterson and William and Germain Zweeres and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In
addition to her husband and parents, Anne was predeceased by a grandson,
Casey Zweeres, 5 siblings; Theresa Pendleton,
George Granger, Jeanne Dwyer, Roland Granger and Rita Granger and by a
son-in-law, Donald Wagoner. The
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 5th, 2011
at 11 AM from the Church of the Nativity, 65 Canada St., Swanton. The pastor, Fr. Thomas D. Nadeau will be
the celebrant and homilist. Interment
will follow in the Zweeres Family lot in St. Mary
Cemetery. Friends may call at the
Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Friday from 6-8PM. Gifts
