Obituary for Yvette D. Hughes

CHAMPLAIN, NY / SWANTON – Yvette D. Hughes, age 71, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Plattsburgh Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born in St. Albans on May 13, 1946 the daughter of the late Donald & Dorothy (Lachapelle) Scott.

Yvette was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold. She worked alongside “Pops” for years doing yard care and other landscaping duties. She used her incredible work ethic cleaning houses and doctors’ offices, and took pride in the immaculate work she performed. When she found time to relax, she truly enjoyed playing Bingo, going out to dinner and shopping with her children and grandchildren. Spending time in Canada visiting with her sister and her family was another pastime that she always looked forward to.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Hughes of Champlain; her children, Roberta “Robin” Martin her partner Allen Fortune of Shoreham, Linda Bergeron her husband John of Bridport, David Martin his wife Tammy of Burlington, Dorothy Martin of Milton, Debra Metcalf her husband Pete of Swanton, and George Martin Sr. and wife Courtney of Champlain, NY; siblings, David Scott his wife Mila of St. Albans, Ronald Scott his wife Risa of Richford, Ricky Scott his wife Trish of Manchester, NH, Wendy Shedrick her husband Ralph of Clarenceville, Que. and in-laws Henry Bougor, several nieces and nephews, 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
